Pretty pieces - Peugeot

Almost all the necessary parts are collected to build the Peugeot now. The only part now is for us to get the bike to paint!!

Some new pieces that will be used for the Peugeot build - the lovely Campagnolo Chorus cranks, running a 42T 1/8" Brev Fyxomatosis chainring, from Andy at Fyxomatosis. This will be paired with a 19T White Industries ENO freewheel, joined by a KMC superlite K710SL chain. This will give a leisurely ratio of ~59 gear inches. While that may seem lightly geared, there is no expectation of a significant turn of speed on this machine; moreover, it is likely to spend its life cruising rather than racing.

In concert with Tektro long reach calipers, the Peugeot will run these short pull Paul Cantilevers. Paul Components, since 1989, have produced their niche machined alloy product, with both functionality and aesthetics in mind. Quality and finish of these levers are first rate.

To complete the bike, a ladies specific Fizik Vitesse (titanio, no less!) will be used. Conveniently, the saddle is white with pink trim - which should match the overall colour scheme nicely.

The last few bits and pieces are at Shifterbikes waiting for us to get on with it and paint the frame. The white velocity wheels (machined sidewalls, front and rear) with white powdercoated Velocity hubs and silver spokes look fantastic. At the same time as powdercoating the hubs, the stem, handlebar and Deore XT (yes, old-school XT) pedal cages were powdercoated white. Sure its not as Shimano intended for XT pedals, but they still spin beautifully and will work just fine of the Peugeot.

  1. Good stuff rewind. Looking forward to seeing the finished product, still! Take time to get the right bits together.
